I have played golf for 20 years with very little consistency. Doug broke down my swing to find and correct the mistakes I was making to improve ball striking and a straighter ball flight. Highly recommend Doug for any level golfer.
After trying to figure out golf for a year on my own through advice from friends and YouTube videos, I decided to give lessons a try. I saw Doug specialized in helping beginners and I had yet to progress past the beginner stage. What nerves I had quickly subsided after a few minutes of speaking with Doug. He helped me realize half of my problems were in my head. He was sure to remind me, “You’re swing isn’t perfect but not as bad as you think.” Doug helped me slow the game down and focus on making good contact. He gave me simple pointers to take with me after our lessons such as grip, set-up, and tempo. He taught me not every golf swing is the same because not every person is the same. He helps you to work within your body to optimize your potential. When my time with Doug came to an end I was sad. Not only because my golf game had progressed, but I felt I had made a friend along the way. Whether you are a beginner or have been playing for years, Doug will be able to help you improve your game if you open your mind to change.
My husband and I are grateful to have found Doug. Doug has helped my husband implement adjustments that are improving his swing and overall game.
I am a beginner. Doug has been very encouraging and patient. He breaks each area down into manageable and buildable steps that I am able to understand and work on. It is obvious Doug enjoys teaching golf. His cheerful attitude is contagious!
Be sure to add the voice over videos with each lesson! Doug summarizes the areas to practice and gives side-by-side comparisons that have been invaluable visual aids for me. My husband and I look forward to continue working with Doug.
I recently started back golfing after a 20 year hiatus. Last year I took a few lessons from a different instructor but always felt he was trying to recreate my swing to a textbook model. After reading Doug's teaching philosophy and his statement of "Golf is not a one size fits all proposition" I thought I would give him a try. I explained to Doug I play for enjoyment about 20 times a year (usually scoring 105+) and my goal is to consistently break 90. Doug watched me make a few swings before suggesting a few simple tweaks that immediately improved my consistency. He was not interested in recreating my swing but rather in adjusting it. He gave me simple and effective guidance as well as some drills to practice at home. After one lesson, a couple of buckets of balls, and reading through several of Doug's blogs of golfing philosophy, I shot my best ever score of 87. Can I do it consistently yet? Probably no but it has given me the confidence to know that I will. I am looking forward to more lessons and continuing to tweak my game. If you haven't taken the time to read his blogs, I would suggest you do. Golf is as much mental as it is mechanics. He offers some really good tips on avoiding the mental mistakes that cost us strokes on every round.
Complete beginner learning from my brother (great golfer!) who is 6 hours away.
After reading some reviews for other area instructors, I had a great feeling Doug was the right one for me and my knowledge level.
From the first uneducated skill-less swing, he was very encouraging and reassuring and immediately set my mind at ease! Breaking things down simply and in easy to understand steps helped me immensely!
Mentally I went from "I am never going to get this." to "Ok,,, let's get this first part right, then move on." I actually hit a few (very few) balls very well and immediately was eager to learn more and to be more consistent.
His use of ready videos and easy to understand terms for complex ideas helped greatly!
I will be taking more lessons from Doug in the near future!
Doug corrected issues with my grip and swing one at a time. His style is to help with simple communication and helpful analogies and demonstrations (and ample time to reinforce the helpful corrections). Best of all, I quickly learned to strike the ball well and hit straight. Thank you Doug !
I had no idea all the issues I had with my swing. I’ve been playing golf for over 40 years, and I’d never had a lesson. Doug started with the top of my backswing then the distance from the ball and then my grip. It started out like the most uncomfortable thing I’ve ever done. I went to the range again a few days later and tried to work on it one issue at a time. It wasn’t pretty but whenever I made good contact the ball didn’t veer more than a few yards off my target. I hope I can dial it in before the end of the summer because there are some guys that I feel owe me some money. I hope Doug and I can work again soon.
Doug was a fantastic instructor with a great attitude, and great instructional demeanor, and my Mom and I are so happy to have found him. He provides the perfect balance of fun, encouragement, and manageable corrections, and his pacing for the lesson was perfect.
Doug gave me one simple swing change, and my shots went from worm-burners to high fliers instantly! I highly recommend him.
I recently had the pleasure of attending a golf lesson at Madison Golf Center, and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations. This was my first time taking a lesson before and it turned out to be an exceptional learning experience.
Doug's passion for the sport was contagious. His enthusiasm and encouragement created a positive and motivating environment, helping me feel both comfortable and confident on the course.
Overall, my golf lesson was nothing short of exceptional. Not only did I walk away with valuable insights and practical skills, but I also gained a renewed passion for the game. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone looking to improve their golf game in a welcoming and professional setting.
